El Computador Loco

George is in his bedroom. He is playing on his computer – again! George plays on his computer every day. His mum shouts, “George! Your dinner is ready!” but George doesn’t hear. He just plays on his computer. But George feels sad. He plays on his computer because he doesn’t have any friends. Sometimes he dreams he is playing football with lots of friends, but it never happens.

George está en su dormitorio. Está jugando en su computador – ¡otra vez! Jorge juega en su computador todos los días. Su mamá grita, “¡George! ¡Tu cena esá lista!” pero George no escucha. Sólo juega en su computador. Pero George se siente triste. Juega en su computador porque no tiene amigos. A veces sueña que está jugando fútbol con muchos amigos, pero eso nunca sucede.

Today George is playing a computer football game. He is playing against the computer and he is winning. Suddenly the computer speaks to George.
“Hello George. What game can we play now?”
George is surprised and jumps up from his chair. He can’t believe it. Maybe he is dreaming. Then the computer speaks again.
“I am your friend, George.”
George looks at the computer with big eyes.
"You can speak!"
"Yes, of course. I can do many amazing things!"
"Can you do maths homework?"
"That's easy!"

Hoy George está jugando a partido de fútbol en el computador. Está jugando contra el computador y le está ganando. De pronto el computador le habla a George.
“Hola George. ¿Qué juego podemos jugar ahora?”
George se sorprende y salta de su silla. No puede creerlo. Quizás esté soñando. Entonces el computador habla de nuevo.
“Soy tu amigo, George.”
George mira al computador con ojos enormes.
"¡Puedes hablar!"
"Sí, por supuesto. ¡Sé hacer muchas cosas sorprendentes!"
"¿Sabes hacer deberes de matemáticas?"
"¡Eso es fácil!"

The computer looks at George's book and in two seconds all the answers are on the computer screen. George writes the answers in his book.
"Great!" says George.

El computador mira el cuaderno de George y en dos segundos todas las respuestas aparecen en la pantalla del computador. George escribe las respuestas en su cuaderno.
"¡Genial!" dice George.

George's mum arrives. She brings George a pizza.
"Here you are George! Oh good, your maths homework is finished! What a good boy!"
And she goes out of the room.

Llega la mamá de George. Le trae una pizza a George.
"¡Aquí tienes George! Ah bueno, ¡tu trabajo de matemáticas está terminado! ¡Qué buen chico!"
Y ella sale de la habitación.

"Oh yum, I love pizza!" says the computer. An arm shoots out of the side of the computer and takes the pizza.
"Delicious!" says the computer. Another arm shoots out of the computer. And then two legs. Suddenly the computer is walking!

"Hmm, ¡me encanta la pizza!" dice el computador. Un brazo salta del costado del computador y toma la pizza.
"¡Deliciosa!" dice el computador. Otro brazo salta del computador. Y luego dos patas. De pronto el computador ¡está caminando!

"Let's go for a walk," says the computer and it goes down the stairs and out of the front door. George follows him.
"Where are we going?" asks George.
"To find a friend," says the computer. It walks along the road, turns left and goes into the High Street. It stops outside the television shop.
"No good!" it says and laughs at the televisions.

"Vamos a dar una vuelta," dice el computador y baja las escaleras y va hacia la puerta de calle. George lo sigue.
"¿Adónde vamos?" pregunta George.
"A buscar un amigo," dice el computador. Camina por la calle, dobla a la izquierda y se mete en la Calle Principal. Se detiene fuera de la tienda de televisores.
"¡No sirven!" dice y se ríe de los televisores.

The computer runs along the road. Its metal legs run faster and faster. It goes past the post office and the bank and into the library. In the library there are lots of books - and lots of computers. The crazy computer goes into the room full of computers. There is a boy sitting there, doing his homework.
"Hello," says the boy, "I'm Tommy."
Tommy looks at the crazy computer.
"What's this?" he cries, "a computer with arms and legs?"
"It's my computer," says George. "He's gone crazy - eating pizza and running around!"

El computador corre por la calle. Sus patas metálicas corren cada vez más rápido. Pasa el correo y el banco y se mete en la biblioteca. En la biblioteca hay muchos libros – y muchos computadores. El computador loco entra al salón lleno de computadores. Hay un chico sentado allí haciendo los deberes.
"Hola," dice el chico, "Me llamo Tommy."
Tommy mira al computador loco.
"¿Qué es esto?" grita, "¿un computador con brazos y patas?"
"Es mi computador," dice George. "Se volvió loco – ¡comiendo pizza and corriendo por todas partes!"

They look at George's computer. It is connecting to the other twenty computers in the room. The computers make lots of strange noises. Maybe they are talking to each other.

Miran hacia el computador de George. Se está conectando con los otros veinte computadores del salón. Los computadores hacen muchos ruidos extraños. Quizás estén hablando entre sí.

Words and strange characters flash across the screens. Coloured lights go on and off - green, blue, red, yellow. The computers go faster and faster. Suddenly one explodes, then the next, then the next… then they all explode.

Palabras y extraños caracteres estallan en las pantallas. Luces de colores se encienden y apagan – verdes, azules, rojas, amarillas. Los computadores van cada vez más rápido. De pronto uno explota, luego el siguiente, luego el siguiente... luego explotan todos.

George's computer is in the middle of the room. It is getting bigger and bigger. Its screen is flashing with millions of different characters and messages. It is laughing.

El computador de George está en el medio de la habitación. Se está agrandando cada vez más. Su pantalla estalla en millones de caracteres diferentes y mensajes. Está riéndose.

"Now, I have enough power!" says George's computer. "Soon I will be the only computer on Earth. I can destroy all other computers. I am the Supercomputer of the World." Tommy looks at George. "We must stop him!" he says.

"¡Ahora, yo tengo suficiente poder!" dice el computador de George. "Pronto seré el único computador sobre la tierra. Puedo destruir a los otros computadores. Soy el Supercomputador del Mundo." Tommy lo mira a George. "¡Tenemos que detenerlo!" dice.

George's computer is out of control. The lights in the library are flashing on and off. People are running out of the library. They are scared.
"Quick!" says George. He grabs a stick and smashes his computer. There is a loud bang and it explodes into the air and falls to the ground in tiny pieces.
"He's gone," says Tommy.

El computador de George está fuera de control. Las luces de la biblioteca se encienden y apagan. La gente sale corriendo de la biblioteca. Están asustados.
"¡Rápido!" dice George. Toma un palo y destroza su computador. Hay un fuerte estampido y explota en el aire y cae al piso en pedacitos.
"Se acabó," dice Tommy.

Tommy and George leave the library together. Tommy lives in the next street to George.
"That's my house," says Tommy. "Do you want to play football in the garden?"
"Yes," says George, smiling and smiling. "Who needs computers?"

Tommy y George salen juntos de la biblioteca. Tommy vive en la calle que sigue a la de George.
"Esa es mi casa," dice Tommy. "¿Quieres jugar fútbol en el jardín?"
"Sí," dice George, sin dejar de sonreír. "¿Quién necesita computadores?"
